Saturday, February 3, 2018 Banquet
The annual Arrows & Antlers banquet was another great success. This was our fourth year at Savanna Oaks in Fall River, WI. Some wintry Wisconsin weather kept our attendance down a bit, but we still managed to have about 130 join our annual celebration.
Once again, the spread of wild game was phenomenal, thanks to Gary Merkes and chef Steve Johnson. This year’s menu featured a variety of venison, elk, bear, antelope, turkey, pheasant, and other assorted fish – and we washed it all down with 5 – ½ barrels of beer. A special thanks also goes out to Dennis McDonald for all of his assistance in making the event a success!
We had another great year of generous sponsor donations and door prizes. The Jacobson’s donated a free Arrows & Antlers membership, won by Mark Wolfgram. Kris Hellenbrand also donated a free A&A membership, won by Travis Weissenfluh. Steve Will donated a pair of free A&A Memberships, won by Steve Steiner and Jamie Srb. We raffled off another crossbow this year, a Mission Crossbow complete set, which was won by JR Klock. We also raffled off a Mission Riot Bow, won by Terry Lietz. Our annual beer/booze/cooler raffle was won by Mike Haefner!
We also raffled off $5,500 in cash prizes, given away as 11-$500 prizes – those winners were: Weston Haefner, Gib Fagan, Andy Clark, Steve Will, Dave Finco, Matt Chaussee, Jesse James, Derek Schmidt, Ron Jacobson Sr, Scott Bailey, and Tommy Kempfer.
We had a great year of buck entries, with 12 entered into the contest – and the results were: 1st place – Mike Stader (160 5/8), 2nd place – Tommy Kempfer (139 1/8), 3rd place – Derek Schmidt (137), 4th place – Mark Wolfgram (135 4/8), 5th place – Steve Steiner (135), 6th place – Ron Schimmel (131 6/8), 7th place – Scott Johnson (121 4/8), 8th place – Jerry Crook (113 4/8), 9th place – Greg Schweppe (108), 10th place – Steve Will (107 4/8), 11th place – Adam Gross (103 4/8), 12th place – Scot Junge (101 4/8).
The membership fee for the upcoming season remained at $35, and the majority of our members paid their dues for the 2018 season – for those who didn’t, your $35 is due by August 1st, otherwise your membership is forfeited to a new member. The waiting list is ever-growing, so please get your dues paid as soon as possible. Thank you to all of those members that paid for next year at the banquet. Also remember that guest spots for the 2019 banquet are reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis, for $25 each, paid at the door.
