Saturday, February 3, 2007 Banquet
It was a bitter cold and windy day, but the annual banquet was another great success. As is tradition, the banquet was held on the Saturday of super bowl weekend, February 3, 2007. We had 72 of our 76 members in attendance, as well as 25 guests and sponsors.
As usual, the food was incredible, thanks to chef Steve Johnson. We had a variety of venison, elk, turkey, rabbit and alligator. We also managed to take care of 4 — ½ barrels of Bud Light.
We had another great year of generous sponsor donations and door prizes. The CVA Muzzleloader raffle was won by John Schullenburg, and the Beer/Booze/Cooler raffle was won by Chase Peterson. We also raffled off a cash prize of $300, and five cash prizes of $400 each (a total of $2,300). Those winners were: Mike Haefner ($300), Steve Steiner ($400), Jeff Mueller ($400), Gary Powley ($400), and we did not document the other winners. The Martin Cougar bow, donated by Badgerland Archery (Jeff Mueller) was won by Steve Steiner.
Winning buck entries went to 1st place winner Ron Schimmel, 2nd place Keith Merkes, and 3rd place Darren Dosemagen. Because there were only three bucks entered in the 2006 season contest, the additional 4th – 7th places were given away as door prizes.
Finally, I would like to remind everyone that the dues for next year are due by August 1st, otherwise your membership is forfeited to a new member. Also remember that we are selling guest tickets in advance for the 2008 banquet. There will only be 25 tickets available, sold on a first-come first-serve basis, for $25 each.
